This is our fourth year joining area second grade classes with a program we call OPERA-tion Arts — and I don’t think I’ll ever tire of it. We offer a multimedia presentation on opera and theater, and discuss all the aspects that go into creating an opera production. At the end, we ask the students to illustrate their thoughts on opera. We always receive really interesting and clever results. Each year we have done something different with the artwork — from displays in local grocery stores to exhibits in local art galleries. This year we  we will create a holiday wreath with the artwork for the Cooperstown Art Association‘s annual Adorn-A-Door Wreath Festival. A portion of the proceeds from this event go toward the Art Association’s ongoing Art Scholarship Program for high school seniors.
