The Glimmerglass Festival posted a photo: Two weeks ago, our double billing of Later the Same Evening and A Blizzard On Marblehead Neck premiered during a heat wave hitting Central New York. The decision was made during intermission to keep our walls open during the performance of A Blizzard On Marblehead Neck. This rare occurrence cooled off the audience, letting the gentle breeze waft through the space. The heat didn't seem to dampen the crowd during curtain call and the show seemed well received. I took advantage of this situation to photograph the show through the screens on the outside of the theater. The Glimmerglass Festival posted a photo: The young artists presents special performances including the Meet Me at the Pavilion series and Arias and Asides concerts during the summer. They select some of their favorite pieces of opera and musical theater to present the audience. This one took place in the Thaw Pavilion; you can see the paper globe covering the light over the stage.William Brown The Glimmerglass Festival posted a photo: I took this photo of the Alice Busch Opera Theater a few weeks ago during the intermission of Annie Get Your Gun. I enjoy how you can see people enjoying the festival grounds on the lovely summer day, such as the two women strolling along the path, the family relaxing by the pond and the people enjoying the view of the mountain from the balcony. The trees on the sides of the photo frame the shot as well as give you hint of what the festival is like beyond the frame of the photo. I also like how you can see the open walls of the theater, which I think is one of the coolest aspects of it. I had been searching for a goodway to get a photograph of people under the trees picnicking, but it wasalways tough because the background would always be blown out if Iexposed for the picnickers. I then came up on this scene and knew thatit would turn out if I made them into semi-silhouettes against thebright background. The part that really strikes me though is how thetree trunks divide the image into four different scenes, each telling astory.William Brown The Glimmerglass Festival posted a photo: On Wednesday, we had on and off rain through out the day, but it seemed to break right before we had to head to the softball game. I walked out of the Malton Place Residence and spotted the rainbow in the sky. I then booked it over to the theater, where I knew exactly where I needed to be. I do wish it were a full rainbow, but I do like how it leads your eye to the flags and the theater.William Brown The Glimmerglass Festival posted a photo: This summer, new signs were made in the festival colors to help people navigate the campus. Most have nowhere near the number of signs that there are on this post, which is near the Thaw Pavilion. Hopefully these will help people get around our beautiful campus!William Brown
