Plan Your Experience

GETTING TO GLIMMERGLASS
Nestled between the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains on Otsego Lake, Glimmerglass Opera performs in the Alice Busch Opera Theater, on Route 80, eight miles north of the quaint Village of Cooperstown. Details on traveling to Cooperstown can be found by clicking here.

THE ALICE BUSCH OPERA THEATER
Built in 1987, our theater has unique sliding walls that allow fresh air into the theater before the opera and during intermission. During matinees, the walls must remain closed for the consideration of the performers on stage, but the walls are frequently open for evening performances. There is no air conditioning or heat in the opera house, so please dress comfortably and weather-appropriately.

THE GLIMMERGLASS EXPERIENCE

The magic of your Glimmerglass Experience begins when you arrive at our lakeside festival site. This is the perfect summer getaway, surrounded by rolling hills, beautiful parks and crystal-clear lakes. In addition to internationally-acclaimed opera, we're sure you'll love all the festival has to offer. Click here for more information.

COOPERSTOWN FOR THE DAY
Cooperstown is filled with treasures for fans of baseball, American literature, art, antiques, history, chamber music, and even handcrafted beer! Your Glimmerglass Opera customer service representative would be happy to make some recommendations to make the most of your trip. Or, explore the Cooperstown area online by visiting www.cooperstownchamber.org or www.visitcooperstown.com

COOPERSTOWN OVERNIGHT
Make your visit the quintessential Glimmerglass Experience by attending all four productions and taking time to discover the place where heritage and natural beauty come together in the rolling foothills of the northern Catskills - the land of James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales. Allow our staff to direct you to a variety of top-notch restaurants, or recommend attractions to round out your trip, including Fenimore Art Museum, The Farmers' Museum, Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival, Leatherstocking Theatre, Hyde Hall, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Ommegang Brewery, and any number of others. But first, allow us to provide you with a list of overnight accommodations.
